PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT

music is the language between musicians

Yen provides piano accompaniment for instrumentalists or students having performance, exams or compeititions like Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. She is experienced playing in ensembles and being an accompanist for different instruments. Having the knowledge of playing the flute, violin and singing enables her to have a deeper understanding of the winds/strings instruments and know the difficulties or challenges the instrumental students are facing. She will also give students advice about their playing so as to achieve a better performance.

In order to further her knowledge in piano accompaniment, engage herself in playing in ensembles and interact with musicians as musical and cultural exchange, Yen enrolled in the piano accompaniment course in the U.K. during summer in 2013 and 2017, playing a number of repertoire with various professional instrumentalists from different countries.

Testimonials:

"I am a professional flautist and have had the pleasure of working with Yen as my accompanist on a number of occassions. Her playing is sensitive, perceptive and highly musical and she has excellent sight-reading skills, paying close attention to the detail in the music. She is in demand as a teacher at all levels and her pupils regularly achieve high grades. The fact that she plays the flute and violin to an advanced level enables her to bring an understanding of wind/string playing to her accompanist role. Yen is a very talented musician and I have no hesitation in recommending her as an accompanist."
- Lynne Bulmer, Flautist from Scotland

"I remember when we performed Dvorak, Yen supported my first long note so beautifully. She then carried to the next deep moment and created big musical figure with me.
Sharing music with her is wonderful. I was so happy. All violinists need to play with good pianists who not only possess good techniques but also musical sense and color. Sometimes it is not easy to find a right partner.
My experience with Yen was something special to me. Everytime and every moment Yen understands what I want to do and runs through in parallel delightfully.
I am looking forward to have another performance with her."
- Chie Morimoto, Violinist from Japan
